QR Code Size and Placement: A Print Guide for Table Tents

One rule sets the size. Everything after that is about lighting, laminate, and the words underneath.

The short version

  • A QR code scans from roughly ten times its own width. Divide the scan distance by ten and that is your minimum size.

  • Table tents want 4–5cm (1.5–2in), because a seated guest is 30–50cm away. Window decals need to be far larger than people expect.

  • Matte beats gloss. A gloss laminate under a downlight reflects straight back into the camera and the code will not focus.

  • Label the code. A bare square in a restaurant could be wifi, a loyalty scheme, or a payment link.
